Winter Show auditions next week!

Theme: Nightmare Before Christmas (full title TBD)

Show Dates: Saturday, Dec. 15 | Sunday, Dec. 16

Produced / Directed By: Jessica Smith

Be a part of our show! ALL Learn to Skate and competitive skaters welcome! Roles for all skating levels!

About the story:

(from Wikipedia) Nightmare Before Christmas tells the story of Jack Skellington, a resident as well as The King of “Halloween Town” who stumbles through a portal to “Christmas Town” and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences.

If you have not yet seen the movie, take a look! While parts of the story and some of the characters might be deemed a bit scary or creepy for some of our younger skaters, we will keep it light and ensure that, at least for our younger ones, less emphasis will be placed on the spooky nature with some of the themes and characters. My fellow coaches and I want to make sure that everyone is comfortable and has a good time!

About auditions:

we ask that all skaters interested in participating, in whatever capacity, to audition at one of the available dates:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 25 – 5-5:45 pm
  • Saturday, Sept. 29 – 9:30-10:15 am

Auditions will be recorded for our planning purposes. Have your skater please bring / prepare:

  • headshot / photograph of the face
  • best spin / jump element
  • best artistic element
  • some brief choreography to be learned on site

Auditions are being held for the following reasons:

  • to give skaters a feel for how real life auditions work
  • pull the show-(wo)man out of each skater on audition day
  • give our other coaches / choreographers a better idea of who everyone is

Pricing?:

Price will be determined based on how many skaters are participating and announced after auditions and before start of rehearsals. The goal is to keep it similar to last year’s prices, including costumes and seats, under one fee.

Do expect that Lead Roles may be more than Supporting Roles, dependent on both skating level and how much ice time will be required of that role both in and outside of rehearsal time. Please know that we are trying our best to keep it straightforward, simple, and planned in advance as much as we can.
